JHRTS News & Announcements

by Chase Bartels and Tori Socha, JHRTS Co-Presidents
It was a reality-themed February for JHRTS as we hosted an active month of unscripted discussions!

The month began with not only another successful Members Mixer but with an overflowing turn out of volunteers!  Despite the rain, nearly 100 members gathered at Crown Bar in Hollywood for a night of networking and fun.  The next weekend, JHRTS members got to spend Valentine's morning volunteering at Politi elementary school for another Reading to Kids event.

Our monthly Roundtable drew two dozen JHRTS members who were eager to ask questions and learn from our incredible mentors, Adam Sher (CEO, Ryan Seacrest Productions) and John Ferriter (EVP and Worldwide Head of Nonscripted TV, William Morris).  The night was an engaging discussion about the evolution of the reality genre seen through the eyes of both a buyer and seller.

Our public lecture held at CAA this month was titled, "Reality TV: Behind the Scenes" and included panelists, Jay Bienstock (The Apprentice, 13: Fear is Real), Greg Goldman (EVP of Developent and Series, RDF USA), J.D. Roth (Biggest Loser, Beauty and the Geek), and Paul Teledgy (EVP, Alternative, NBC and Universal Media Studios).  Moderator Giuliana Rancic (E!) kept the night moving as we learned about the inner workings of an unscripted series.  Nothing was off limits. From hearing about development trends to network notes, all the way to what its like to watch your own show on air, the audience  was kept entertained and captivated.

Looking ahead, we are excited for our next Roundtable hosted by Eric Schrier (EVP, FX Productions & SVP, FX Series Development).  And as always, stay tuned for details on our upcoming social and charity events, as well.
