Big Things Are Afoot!

Spring brings a host of new initiatives from your HRTS

By Dave Ferrara, HRTS Executive Director
I normally try to have something witty and intelligent for this column every month.  At least I think so!  But February is a short month and we have so many things going on at HRTS that I think I have max'd out my quotient of witty and intelligent and instead will simply go with informative.

This has been a busy month for your organization.  With the springtime sun comes a fresh rush of energy and enthusiasm from the HRTS staff, from the board of directors, and from myself as we are implementing some exciting new initiatives in our ongoing effort to provide our members a valuable and relevant HRTS membership experience.

I know we have been talking about this for a while but the day is finally here!  The new HRTS.org website will officially launch on Monday March 9th!  It's taken a little longer than we hoped but I feel the results were worth the wait.  Our goal with our redesign was to make HRTS.ORG your portal for all things HRTS.  Membership applications, billing and renewals.  Online ticket purchasing.  A complete membership roster that is not only searchable, but also user editable so you can personalize how you are represented to the rest of the membership.  The new site will also feature full-length video of past HRTS events (exclusive for members only) as well as event photos and links to recaps of all the past years panels.

In addition, we are pleased to also announce that based on member feedback and requests, we are launching the new HRTS Job Board, an exclusive environment where media industry professionals and industry specific career opportunities come together.  Job seekers can post and manage resumes, embark on detailed searches for the perfect career position, and be notified of specific opportunities when they come up!  The HRTS Job Board also offers employers many tools to find and recruit the perfect applicant as well as a focused, industry specific pool of qualified applicants from which to choose.  Don't get lost on Monster...this Job Board was designed to meet the special employment needs of our unique industry segment.

In addition to the above, we are very pleased to announce that the HRTS Board of Directors is hard at work on the spring portion of our signature Newsmaker Luncheon Season.  Kicking it off is next week's Cable Chiefs Luncheon featuring cable network leaders including Comcast's Jeff Shell, Lifetime's Andrea Wong, MTVN's Doug Herzog, HBO's Michael Lombardo, Disney Channel's Rich Ross and Crown Media/Hallmark's Henry Schleiff.  The panel will be moderated by Rod Perth, Co-Founder of Reelz Channel and former HRTS President.  Tickets are still available for this luncheon.  A link is available on the main page of this newsletter or by calling HRTS at (818) 789-1182.

There is more to come in the next several months so stay tuned for updates as they become available.
Till then....
See you at the next luncheon!
