Alec Shankman, has attended many HRTS Newsmaker Luncheons through the years and recognized HRTS to be a valuable resource throughout his career. Alec Shankman

Alec Shankman was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1979 and later attended The Ohio State University, graduating with an Honors degree in Business/Marketing.

In 2003, Alec made the move to Los Angeles to pursue his childhood dreams of working in Hollywood. Soon thereafter, Alec joined the West coast office of Abrams Artists Agency where he personally launched the agency’s renowned Alternative Programming Department. He subsequently ran the successful division for 6 years, representing the stars of many of America’s most popular TV shows. His clients ranged from TV hosts & actors, like Joey Lawrence & Cristian De La Fuente, to celeb-reality stars, like Kelly LeBrock & Kim Coles, to on-camera experts, like the stars of SyFy’s ‘Ghost Hunters’ & VH1’s ‘The Pick Up Artist.’ Alec also represented TV producers and packaged television shows including ‘Project MyWorld’ on DirecTV and the multi-series ‘Confessions’ franchise on HDNet.

Alec resigned from his position as an agent in 2009 to assume the position as CEO of GotCast.com, the Internet’s premier interactive casting site and social network for talent. Under his supervision, GotCast has innovated the casting business and has now cast for over 5,000 TV projects (i.e. ABC’s ‘The Bachelor,’ MTV’s ‘The Real World,’ CBS’s ‘Big Brother,’ ABC’s ‘WipeOut,’ NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent,’ Lifetime’s ‘Project Runway,’ etc.). Alec has recently published his first book called ‘Moving to Los Angeles, The ABC’s of Making Your Hollywood Dreams Come True,’ which is due out in March 2010.
