JHRTS Beach Clean-Up a Success!

The 2008-2009 season started off with a bang for JHRTS this September, hosting our first monthly Members' Mixer and a lively panel on "The Business of Celebrity."

Our Members' Mixer took place at the new Hollywood hotspot, One Sunset, and brought a crowd of 100 young professionals together for a night of networking and fun.  We also held our first lecture of the season covering the topic, "The Business of Celebrity: A Conversation about Gossip, Celebrity Culture, and the Media."  Panelists included E.L Woody, Steve Tseckares, Mike Walker, Charlotte Parker and Matthew Cooke, moderated by Jonathan Taplin of USC.  It was an animated debate that have left our members wanting more.

Coming up in October, JHRTS is planning its first Digital Content Gallery, as well as our first Roundtable discussion of the year.  The Digital Content Gallery will be held on Thursday October 23rd from 8-11pm at the ZuneLA Gallery in West Hollywood.  This original event has been designed as a gathering of television, digital and film personal to view and discuss the latest, coolest and sometimes most-overlooked online content.  With an emphasis on scripted entertainment, this is an opportunity not only for people to enjoy webisodes or online shorts, but for the creators and talent to get vital exposure as they discuss their work in person.  Our October Roundtable will feature HRTS' own Kevin Beggs of Lionsgate. Roundtables are set up to allow a small group of JHRTS members the opportunity to hear from various keynote speakers in an open, informal discussion and couldn't be more excited to hear from Kevin.
