HRTS TV...Society Views Now On-line!

Dave Ferrara PictureBy Dave Ferrara
The cobbler’s kids have no shoes… For a while now I’ve been feeling that this old axiom was aimed squarely at the HRTS. Every HRTS panel over the past couple of years has addressed the need for content to be made available more broadly through internet distribution. And our member companies have aggressively moved in that direction with content deals on AOL, iTunes Yahoo, Google, YouTube, or in the case of NBC and Fox, through their own planned broadband network. Making valuable content more accessible to consumers where and when they want it has been the story of the year!

Judging by the capacity crowds attending our luncheons, one could surmise that HRTS Newsmaker Luncheons should be considered “valuable content” which I believe has import well beyond the physical confines of the ballroom on luncheon day. In our desire to make this content more broadly available…and to provide additional services to the industry we represent, we, the HRTS, went out and bought some shoes!

For the first time in our long history, the HRTS now has the Newsmaker luncheon series on-line! Les Moonves with Charlie Rose, The Network Chiefs, The Hitmakers with Jimmy Kimmel, and our latest Cable Chiefs luncheon are all available for download from our new HRTS TV channel. We also have last year’s State of the Industry with Gavin Polone (the un-cut version) on-line! Visit HRTS.ORG and click on the view videos link and you are taken directly to free preview clips of all of these great programs. Like the preview? Download the entire full-length program for a 7-day rental for only $4.99!

Of course, viewing the luncheons on-line doesn’t completely replace the buzz of the live event, but it does allow industry pros, or those aspiring to be, to not miss out on some of the most provocative, informative and hopefully entertaining discussions available on issues relevant to the ongoing success of our business. Check out HRTS TV. We hope you find this new service valuable and I personally look forward to hearing feedback from viewers on how we can expand our offerings in the future. Enjoy!

Society Views Online!
I'd also like to welcome all of you to the premier edition of Society Views on-line.  (Just another pair of shoes!)  Views is going on-line in response to the requests of many HRTS members for a newsletter that more accurately reflects how our membership looks at the news today.  Views online will feature more member profiles, luncheon reports as well as special features from assorted industry partners such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and more.

In addition, we'd like to hear from you! Have some news you'd like to share with the entire membership?  Or an area of interest you think other HRTS members might have in common?  This on-line publication is intended to be a service to HRTS members, so please feel free to submit your own content for upcoming editions.  Email the editor at  SocietyViews@hrts.org for more details.  We hope you enjoy both HRTS TV and the new Society Views and look forward to bringing you even more member benefits in the coming months.

Respectfully,
Dave Ferrara, Executive Director
