The 2007 State of the Industry luncheon opened with former HRTS President Jordan Levin showing the legendary Apple “1984” ad and commenting that the stone being used by Apple’s metaphorical David to fell the Microsoft Goliath may in fact be the iPod....

Chairman, Academy of Television Arts & Sciences |
(Editor’s note: The following question is an extension of last month’s interview with Academy of Television Arts and Science (ATAS) President Dick Askin. Interviewer Chris Davison arranged with Askin to save it until after the 2007 Emmy nominations were announced on Friday, July 20, 2007.)
by Chris Davison, davison@intellcap.com
Q: What are your thoughts on the new Emmy nomination procedures and their results?
Overall we’re very pleased with the results. Prior to 2006 the Emmy nominations procedures hadn’t been changed in over 20 years and so there were concerns about the same people and programs being nominated year-over-year.

by Chris Davison, davison@intellcap
Vivi Zigler is Executive Vice President, NBC Digital Entertainment and New Media, and her career has been truly multimedia, from radio to television to online to mobile. I recently had a chance to sit down with Vivi to discuss YouTube, MyNBC, and the new frontier of the new frontier....

From The Executive Director |
Mid-summer musings... |
By Dave Ferrara, HRTS Executive Director
Ahhh...Mid-summer. That quiet time when the sun is warm, traffic has lessened, and the TV and media business takes its annual summertime siesta. At least that’s the way I remember it! I typically take this “slow” time to sit back and take stock of the state of the HRTS. Our fiscal year ends on June 30th, and by mid-July I have wrapped up the books, and I report to the HRTS board just how well (hopefully!) we’ve done in the previous year. And normally, at this time of year my Society Views column focuses on these same issues. ...
