JHRTS News & Announcements
by Brian Toombs, JHRTS Co-President

JHRTS had an exciting month of March. We kicked things off with an extremely entertaining “Buy and Sell in Cable” Panel held at CAA. Our esteemed panel featured: Casey Bloys (SVP of Comedy, HBO), Alex Sepiol (VP Orig Scripted Series, USA), Nick Grad (EVP of Development, F/X), Beth Greenwald (VP of Original Programming and Series Development, E!), Tony Optican (SVP of Scripted Programming, FremantleMedia), Sean Smith (Creator and Executive Producer, GREEK).  Their lively discussion focused on what it takes to sell programming in the cable marketplace, both from a buyer and seller standpoint. Our diverse group covered a variety of angles of the buy/sell process from “what determines network needs” to life cycles of projects to “do’s and don’ts” of pitching. The once again sold out crowd was treated to real insight into the nitty gritty of getting projects off the ground in cable and how to put themselves in positions to be successful from both sides of the equation. The expert panel mixed it up, didn’t hold back and contributed to an incredibly educational experience for young Hollywood.
