Michael Spindler is a forensic accountant with Capstone Advisory Group, LLC.  Contrary to popular belief, forensic accountants do not cut open cadavers with slide rules, but investigate business fraud and business disputes.  He was named one of “LA’s Bloodhounds” by the Los Angeles Business Journal, and has performed numerous investigations resulting in significant financial recoveries. He is a CPA, a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Information Systems Auditor, amongst other certifications. He started his career with Arthur Andersen in 1981 and escaped to Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP in 1999. Some credit the demise of the Andersen firm to Mike’s departure, but that is most likely untrue. Mike joined Capstone in September after 10 years at Deloitte.
 
Michael’s media & entertainment experience includes litigation support and expert witness testimony on film costs and profits, working on behalf of talent in investigations regarding allegations of improprieties by their business managers, examining expenditures on behalf of film producers to identify inappropriate costs charged to films and performing film audits, royalty inspections, most favored nations inspections  and participation audits.

Mike grew up in N. Massapequa on Long Island, NY and attended the State University of New York at Albany. He moved to Los Angeles in 1993. Mike is involved with many non-profits, including Public Counsel, the Inner City Law Center, the Los Angeles County Bar Association Dispute Resolution Services, Inc. and the Water Buffalo Club. He also serves as a trustee of the San Marino Schools Foundation. He lives in San Marino with his better half, Kimberly, and their two precious and adorable children, Kylie (8 years old) and Sutton (6 years old). He enjoys movies, reading, television, radio and other sedentary pursuits provided by the media & entertainment industry.
