The HRTS membership was prominently represented on the latest Hollywood Reporter Women in Entertainment Power 100 list released this month.  The Reporter's 16th annual edition ranked honorees based on achievement (this year), position within her company, influence and/or greenlight power, how much money she controls, and her personal impact within the industry around her.  Their achievements and leadership in our industry are a golden reflection on the entire HRTS and we are proud to be able to say they are our members.  See below for an alphabetical list of the HRTS Honorees....

David Mumford is Executive Vice President of Planning and Operations at Sony Pictures Television. David has worked on the broadcast and studio sides and his current position incorporates consideration of production support, programming and ad sales. I recently had a chance to interview David to discuss forecasting, seismic shifts, and the big SPT presence at the 2008 CES.

What a crazy year this has been in our little industry. The December newsletter is normally where I look back on the past year and we pat ourselves on the back for a job well done, etc. but this year was definitely a little different.  For the first time in my memory, HRTS had to postpone not one, but two of our fall luncheons due to the industry's ongoing labor issues.  (Don't worry, we're planning a very busy spring HRTS season to make up for it!) Since there are a lot of folks much smarter than I dealing with that, and since I tend to get bored easily, with the industry in it's current wait and see mode I've had a bit of free time to think about what kinds of things we could do with HRTS to make it a better, more valuable organization in the coming years.  The old "Life gives you lemons, make lemonade" metaphor comes to mind!  And btw...you can blame Al Gore and his slideshow for a lot of this......
